Community Invited to Second Public Workshop

By July 18, 2018 News

Community members are invited to share their thoughts and help set the direction for the future of the Good Samaritan Hospital site and surrounding neighborhoods. An Options Workshop will be held on August 21, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Fairview Pre-K–6th School (2314 Elsmere Ave, Dayton). There will be light refreshments at 5:30 pm and childcare provided.

The workshop aims to build off the energy from the Community Forums that were held in March. It will provide an opportunity for the planning team to report back on public input collected to date, share findings from research and analysis that have been conducted, and present strategic investment plan concepts for the neighborhoods and re-use strategy for the site. This will be a highly interactive workshop with a brief presentation followed by the opportunity to view and comment on display boards. Everyone who cares about the future of the site and surrounding neighborhoods is encouraged to attend.

You have a fantastic opportunity to have rooms to house and treat people recovering from drug problems. All rooms self contained with emergency response (Would fit goals of representative Turner).. Health and human services is also looking for facilities to work with youth to better their place in life. This building is easily separated for different uses as residences.

Many of the lower or larger areas could be adopted as a grocery, kitchen, food preparation, and other uses of equipment that is going to be Trashed.
The hospital can not keep the facility as soon as it is no longer a hospital they have to pay tax on it at its appraised value. So either a government agency or a non profit needs to take title (tax based on purchas price) Utilities will be very reasonable once adapted from requirements as a hospital. 200,500 sq ft as Hoapital $500,000 utilities per yr – New use as residential and business for same space $150,000 Good luck
